Adobe free Adobe Premiere 6.5 plug-in supports Sony's DSR-DU1 portable video disk
Adobe announced the immediate availability of a free Adobe Premiere 6.5 plug-in that supports Sony's new DSR-DU1 portable video disk unit. The new Adobe Premiere plug-in enables users to edit video directly from a DV camera equipped with the DSR-DUI model—minimizing the time-consuming process of capturing and downloading raw video footage to a computer hard drive.
"Our new video disk drive coupled with the Adobe Premiere 6.5 plug-in is ideal for videographers working in the field and yet another example why Sony's DVCAM format is the fastest-growing professional format in history," said Bob Ott, vice president of marketing for Sony Electronics' Business Solutions and Systems Company. "The potent combination of Adobe software and Sony hardware offers videographers significant productivity boost for independent and corporate production, electronic field production and electronic news gathering."

Available since August, Adobe Premiere 6.5 includes advancements that help users create and deliver professional, polished video productions for DVD, videotape, multimedia and the Web. New Real-time Preview capabilities in Adobe Premiere 6.5 improve productivity by allowing video editors to instantly view effects, titles and transitions as they are made in the editing process. In addition, video editors can enhance their projects with broadcast-quality title sequences created in the new Adobe Title Designer. Export capabilities have been extended with the addition of MPEG-2 export and DVD authoring features.
Adobe Premiere 6.5 for Windows XP, 98SE, 2000, ME and Macintosh OS 9 and OS X is available in the United States and Canada for an estimated street price is US$549 for the full versions of each platform. The estimated street price for the upgrade for registered users is US$149. Adobe Premiere 6.5 is included in the Adobe Digital Video Collection 8.0.
