Digidesign takes Avid Video Integration to the Next Level with AVoption|XL
Las Vegas, NV - Digidesign is now showing AVoption|XL, a hardware option for integrating Pro Tools digital audio workstations with Avid video editing systems. Both the AVoption|XL and AVoption hardware options allows capture, import and playback of Avid-compatible video from within the Pro Tools application. Together with the advanced editing and post-production features of Pro Tools 5 software, these options represent an unprecedented level of integration between audio and video, and an improved workflow for sound-for-picture professionals.
Both packages offer complete integration, conversion-free media compatibility, and the tightest possible audio/video sync. "With AVoption or AVoption|XL," says Tim Claman, Digidesign Post-Production Product Manager, "Pro Tools users enjoy the productivity benefits of integrated random-access picture playback with near sample-accurate synchronization and Avid compatibility. Integration means that you can jump between scene changes instantaneously and align sounds to picture with ‘drag and drop’ simplicity — all while viewing broadcast-quality video on an external monitor."
AVoption|XL is a single PCI card with breakout box based on Avid’s next generation Meridien technology and is fully compatible with all Meridien-based Media Composer|XL, Xpress and Symphony systems. AVoption|XL, like AVoption, enables Pro Tools users to capture, import and play back all JFIF broadcast video resolutions from 15:1 all the way to uncompressed.
AVoption is a two-card solution based on the ABVB hardware subsystem, fully compatible with the roughly 25,000 Avid Media Composer and Film Composer systems currently in use. AVoption makes it possible to capture, import and play broadcast quality video from within Pro Tools sessions for all resolutions, up to AVR 77.
For compatibility with Avid Film Composer systems, users can add Digidesign FilmFrame, a software module for Digidesign AVoption or AVoption|XL equipped Pro Tools systems, which allows import and playback of 24 fps picture files.
AVoption and AVoption|XL are now available for Mac OS Pro Tools systems.
