About "The Power of X" Until recently, dedicated hardware has been required at the heart of every realtime nonlinear editing system because CPUs just weren't up to the demanding task of handling video in real time. Suddenly, with the advent of Gigahertz CPUs, editing software can be made to do some editing operations in real time, without hardware assistance, using just CPU power alone.
Software-based editing products hold the promise of being more flexible and more scalable because as CPU speed increases, so does editing performance. On the other hand, dedicated hardware excels at time-consuming functions such as 3D effects. It also provides the analogue and digital inputs and outputs that are required to connect your camera and VCR to your computer.
The Power of X combines the best of both approaches to deliver peak video editing performance, at a very aggressive price point, without quality compromises.
The Power of X, as implemented in Matrox RT.X10, now exploits the full power of the CPU for: * Ultra-fast DV decoding without quality compromises * Smooth slow and fast motion control * Colour correction
The Power of X, as implemented in Matrox RT.X10, exploits the full power of dedicated hardware for: * Analogue input and output * Compositing and true 3D geometric effects * High-quality bi-cubic and anisotropic effects filtering
