Shure Microphone Endorsers win at Latin Video Music Awards
R&B groove rockers and Shure endorsers Maroon 5 walked away with two wins, for "Best International Rock Group" and "Best New International Rock Group," at last week's 3rd Annual MTV Latin Video Music Awards at the Jackie Gleason Theater in Miami. Other Shure endorsers winning awards were funkadelic hip-hop quartet Black-Eyed Peas as "Best International Hip-Hop Group," and internationally renowned Spanish singer-songwriter Alejandro Sanz as "Best Pop Artist."
"It was a great night for Shure and all of our endorsers, both onstage and off," said Ryan Smith, one of Shure's Regional Artist Relations Managers. "Everyone sounded fantastic and it was really nice to see Maroon 5, the [Black-Eyed] Peas and Alejandro [Sanz] pick up awards. It's always good to see the members of the extended Shure family enjoying success, and we offer our congratulations to everyone."
In addition to winning their award, the Black-Eyed Peas took the stage to perform "Let's Get It Started" from their latest album, Elephunk, using wireless U24D/ 58 for lead vocals and U14D wireless for guitar.
"In working on multi-band award shows like the Latin VMAs, using Shure microphones always gives me great results," Eric Schilling, music mixer for the event said. "With these types of shows I have limited time and have to work fast. Using Shure's family of mics keeps me on track."
Colombian singer-songwriter and fellow Shure endorser Juanes also performed at the event. He sang "Nada Valgo Sin Tu Amor," from his most recent album Mi Sangre using a U2/58 wireless.
"For our needs, the UA band is very convenient," said Jeff Briggette from Wireless First, the firm that supplied Shure UHF systems with SM58 capsules for the show. "It gives you plenty of room to move up in the frequency range, and the performance of the mics is very consistent and rock solid."
